Teach Cheshire is an experienced School Direct Alliance led by schools in the Macclesfield and Poynton area, with partner schools across the wider area. You will spend time in two different partnership schools, normally starting in one in the Autumn term, going to a contrasting placement in the Spring term and then returning to the first school in the Summer term. All of the schools in the Alliance have comprehensive intakes and you will get experience of working with young people of all abilities. At least one of your placements will give you access to the 11-18 age range.
Our programme has an excellent track record in terms of outcomes and employment in the alliance and beyond. We are passionate about developing the next generation of outstanding teachers and leaders and are fully committed to high quality, creative and exciting approaches to teaching and learning.
We will ensure that you have the opportunity to build up strong relationships with the staff and students in each school and become fully immersed in wider school life. You will be supported by a fully trained specialist subject mentor and also by a professional mentor who will help you develop your wider skills, knowledge and understanding ahead of your future career in teaching.
We partner with the University of Chester and University of Manchester to offer a programme leading to QTS and PGCE with 60 master’s credits. We work closely with each university to share the delivery of the programme so that you have the opportunity to apply learning from university sessions to the practical context of the classroom, supported and guided by experienced and enthusiastic mentors.
We also partner with TES Institute to offer a programme leading to QTS with PGCE. TES Institute offers a blend of the best of online and in-person learning. You will work closely with a mentor in school and this will be supplemented by high quality online learning sessions, written by practising teachers and academics from the world of education, focusing on the theory and practice of teaching and learning. The online sessions will be the equivalent of one day a week of your programme. You will be supported by your Pathway Tutor to develop your subject specific expertise.
The three partner lead schools are all large, thriving and successful 11-18 mixed comprehensive schools. They each have their own unique ethos, but are united by a desire to provide a high quality, stimulating environment which gives young people of all abilities the best chance to achieve excellent academic outcomes as well as developing their wider skills and interests.
All Hallows Catholic College provides a values based education which more and more parents are actively seeking. The college motto is ‘Aspire not to have more but to be more’ (Oscar Romero). Ofsted recognised the ‘tangible and palpable ethos which combines gospel values, ethical enterprise and an aspiration for all students to be the best they can be’.
Fallibroome is built upon the values of trust, respect and optimism. The culture of the school is one of hard work and commitment to the education of the children in our care. The intention is to make sure that The Fallibroome Academy continues to be “an exciting place in which to learn”.
Poynton High School and Performing Arts College –
Poynton seeks to inspire and empower all in their learning community to fulfil their individual potential and ambitions so that all are able to be effective and successful citizens in a global society.
As a partnership, we are passionate about developing outstanding teachers and leaders for the future who can really make a profound difference to the life chances of the young people in our care.
