The Aspirer Teaching Alliance is a collaboration between more than twenty schools, both Primary and Secondary, led by Ash Grove Academy with partners in the Macclesfield area, Wilmslow, Manchester (Fallowfield) Sandbach, Crewe and Northwich. Our ethos is simply to improve outcomes for all young people, especially those from more challenging circumstances. Ash Grove is a an EEF Research School so you will be learning at the forefront of education.
As a provider of initial teacher education, we aim to provide an experience which is based as much as possible in the real life of schools with support from innovative, forward thinking and friendly teachers. Graduates from this year’s course have commented on the “family” feel that the alliance has.
We have designed a programme with our partners, Sheffield Hallam University (SHU – rated by OFSTED as Outstanding), which is school based – Associate Teachers spend the vast majority of their time in the classroom – but supported by high quality professional development both at Aspirer and SHU.
Mark Avis is the Programme Leader of Aspirer School Direct. He is the Director of Mathematics for the Aspire Educational Trust and was the Deputy Headteacher of Ash Grove Primary School in its journey from a school “causing concern” in 2009 to an Outstanding school in 2013.
